The sun did rise, but the morning is gray. I've been awake since three o'clock this morning. Not, like, half-dozing and restlessly trying to sleep, but wide awake. Up. The only positive thing that can come from this is that I am going to come home to furiously clean bathrooms after conferences today.
This isn't okay.
My friend Tara said it best: I thought I was afraid for what it would mean to have him in charge of this country but what I've realized I'm really afraid of is being surrounded by people who think like him.
I think we've been in denial about how many there are.
I remember crying the night Obama was elected, weeping through his speech, and feeling so hopeful. This morning I'm crying because I feel like we've rammed ourselves into frenzied reverse.
