Let it snow...?

Just a quick note to say: Eep! I know I haven't updated this in a month or so (okay, a month and two days, if you want to get technical), but I promise I haven't abandoned it. Tonight, we're in the process of getting ready to drive to Montana for Christmas, and assuming we make it there and back in one piece, I'll have plenty of stories when we return.

I just have to say: I think I was a much braver driver when I was nineteen. In college, my motto tended to be something like, "If the interstate is open, I will drive on it!" Yet here I sit, on the eve of our departure, and I'm obsessing over road conditions and mountain pass reports and fretting over ALL THE SNOW AND ICE we're sure to encounter. In Montana. In December. Which surely shouldn't come as a tremendous shock or anything. But, see, I've just had the last three days off from school because of snow and ice, because here in the Puget Sound area, things just SHUT DOWN when it snows even a little bit. I've spent the past week surrounded by very skittish drivers and hysterical weather reports of DANGEROUS STORMS and I kind of just want to sit on the couch with a blanket over my lap and -- knit, or something. Except I don't know how to knit. I just hope I still know how to drive like the Montana girl I am.
