Because I am old and cranky and sensitive, I unfollow people on Facebook all the time. I appreciate the choice I have to not read what I know will likely upset or annoy me on social media.
But I unfollow a good handful of people I love or respect in this weird thing called "real life." So occasionally I try to remember to check in. (This gets harder the longer my "unfollow" list becomes, but it also means the stuff popping up in my feed is pretty mellow, for the most part. So I do the best I can.)
Checking in is not always a good idea.
Let me just say this: I'd much rather have a bleeding heart than one so flinty I could strike sparks against it.
It has been a disappointing day.
