The Monkey Song

Every morning during our drive to daycare, Suzannah and I sing together. She always asks for one of three songs first: The Wheels on the Bus, The Monkey Song ("Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed"), or the Farm Song (Old MacDonald). The Monkey Song is her favorite.

Five little monkeys jumpin' on the bed
One fell off and bumped her head!
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said
No more monkeys jumpin' on the bed!
Four little monkeys...

(Oh, is that stuck in your head now? I'm so terribly, terribly sorry.)

She chimes in perfectly on bed, head, said, and...bed, again. And she shakes her head emphatically on the "No more monkeys!" part, but instead of saying "No more," she says, "No no!" In perfect time, though. I love it.

And I have to confess something. Two times this week after I've dropped her off, I've driven more than halfway to school still singing merrily along with "Five Little Monkeys" or "Old MacDonald had a farm" or "I've been workin' on the railroad" before I realize I'm alone in the car and can actually turn it to NPR or something not intended for toddlers.

LOL - there are many nights when I am tormented by the Wiggles or BOZ or Barbie - it makes for terrible sleep when all you can hear and see is a big green bear dancing around or 4 grown men dancing with a dinosaur.
